Green Deal fund gets extra £100m

Households can apply for up to £7,600 of Green Deal funding

Green Deal ApprovedThe Funding is offered as part of the Green Deal home improvement fund and the latest offer is second tranche of cash after £450 million was scooped up earlier this year by households eager to save money on their heating through the governments green deal  Scheme.
All households can apply for funding of up to the maximum £7,600 and the best part of all is that it is not means tested, meaning anyone can apply for Green Deal Finance.

The only condition is that it is for home improvements that improve the energy efficiency of your home – all of which City Technical can help you with.

Insulate your HomeThere really is no better time to contact City Technical Services to get your New Green Deal Energy Efficient A Rated Boilers and your Cavity Wall & Loft Insulation installed just before the Big Freeze takes hold and according to the Met office, it is going to be a bad one.

City Technical Services is a Green Company and has been promoting Green Deal Scotland wide and even in to the north west of England for quite some time now and we are still actively encouraging and advising customers how to make their homes more energy efficient through the Green Deal and Warmer Homes Discount Scheme.

In fact on the Governments website, they state that “for winter 2014 to 2015, you could get a £140 discount on your electricity bill through the Warm Home Discount Scheme” and if you choose to use the scheme.

On the Gov.uk website, is is stated that You will qualify for the discount only if, on 12 July 2014 all of the following apply:

  • your supplier was part of the scheme
  • your name (or your partner’s) was on the bill
  • you were getting the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (even if you get Savings Credit as well).

What’s more, If you qualify for the discount,  you will get a letter by Christmas Eve, telling you either:  (A) you don’t have to apply – you’ll get the discount automatically OR (B) to apply by 30 January 2015 – the letter will tell you why and how. You’ll receive your letter by 24 December at the latest. Even if you don’t qualify, contact your energy company, you may still be able to get some discount – It is worth an ask! Although, be aware, If you don’t get a letter, Contact the Warm Home Discount Team directly, especially if you don’t get a letter but believe you qualify. Their details are at the bottom of this post too for your information.

The Energy secretary,  Ed Davey is expected to announce this at the Lib Dem conference in Glasgow where he is also expected to be shouting about the progress made towards making it easier for consumers like you and me to switch our energy supplier because by 2020, he wants smaller independent energy suppliers to make up 30% of the Energy market.

Ed Davey went further by stating the Lib Dem plans, as per their pre-manifesto set out last month, to offer households up to £100 per year in a “Council Tax Break” if they make their homes more energy efficient.

With The Warmer Homes Discount and Green Deal Schemes I think this is a turning point where consumers like you will be able to keep some of the pennies in your pocket by improving the thermal flow in your home and in turn reducing the cost to heat your home through things like our Insulation services and energy efficient Green Deal Boilers.
